Milla Jovovich: Russian Element
Global superstar, model, singer and fashion designer Milla Jovovich decides to return to her roots and, for the fist time ever, visit the country of her birth place, the new Ukraine that threw off the chains of communism. Now, in a Mercedes, escorted by watchful security guards, she approaches the house of her early childhood and a rush of unexpected feelings overwhelms her…
Her mother, Russian-Ukrainian actress Galina Loginova, and her father, Yugoslavian doctor Bogie Jovovich, arrived in America when their little one was three years old. The young couple was ambitious, but did not even have enough money to afford a decent apartment. To save money and be able to secure housing, they had to hide their future star from the landlord. Galina, who was a rising star in the old country, had to work as a cook and go through a lot of hardships to provide for the family while Bogie was looking for a job.
This film tells the story of a young girl climbing the mountain of success. Milla began her professional career at the age of nine. She did not have a normal childhood; she slept, ate and did her homework in her mom’s car, cruising between agencies, castings and shooting sites. At age 15 she became the main provider for the family. Her father’s business fell apart and her parents divorced, which caused problems in her relationships with both parents. At 16 she left her home; at 17 she gave up movies, right at the time when dozens of high-budget movie scripts came her way. Her mother Galina would learn of her daughter’s life-changing happenings, such as both of her marriages, over the phone. Milla’s long search for her self bred the unveiling of her multi-talented nature. With a legacy of European culture, she enriched American cinematography and America enriched her.
This film is about rising high despite hitting rock bottom, about happiness and drama, about lost and found homeland and earned an outstanding 28 rating on Channel One, the largest TV network in Russia..
